I've been playing about a week now and at the time I didn't know that a last name wasn't required or that you couldn't change your name.
I kind of understand why; it's your reputation and people who've done horrible things could just change their name but there are solutions such as adding your previous names to your character info kind of like how in real life if you get a name change people can look at your records to see that you changed your name and what is was previously.
Anyway, I'm just curious if there has ever been an official response to this question and if so, could someone please link it?
I had hoped that the Character Re-Sculpt would offer this but it doesn't even allow you to fully recustomize your character unfortunately and while the creators may not be hurting to cash, I think this would be a great way to bring in additional revenue.

Yeah, I get the reputation part but like I said in my OP; there are solutions to that such as showing your previous names in your character info. They could add another tab there that lists previous names or add it next to the portrait.
Judging from the responses, they've never weighed in themselves on the issue I take it? |

I mean, I don't hate it too much, but Nolm sounds weird. I think I should have added an s to make it Novekk Nolms instead, or just leave off Nolm altogether had I known you could do that.
What do you mean by biomass? I'd hate to have to relearn all of my skills over again, so that's not really an option since it takes so long to relearn..
Not trying to be rude or anything, but I don't see how an alt would be relevant to this - people could still have an alt for all sorts of other tasks and benefits (from what I understand) but the reputation on your character would stay the same since, if they did add this feature, people would still be able to view your previous names. Then they could cap it at one name-change per year or something.

That's unfortunate, I guess I'll just stick with my current name because even though I've only been playing for ~10 days, that's a substantial amount of time to me considering it's a game. I hope they add this feature in the future because I see no reason not to given that the reputation arguement is defeated by the fact that they could simply add a list of previous names on the character info as well as capping a name-change to once a year or more.

That's a good point, but I'm sure the devs are capable and can figure out a non-tedious way to get around that via some sort of display or system.
I wish I knew enough about the game to attempt to offer some solutions but from what you're telling me they've probably already thought of a great number of ideas.
I made a petition, hopefully they'll add an "s" to make my last name "Nolms" - it seems minor enough. |
